I had a the same issue on Windows 10. I uninstalled the extension after disabling it, created a conda package then reinstalled and reactivated. Now there is no option for previewing.
Here is the output from running xelatex --version (if that is helpful):

I have the same issue on win10. I install the plugin , but there's no option for preview after right click. I use the texlive 2020.

Do you have XeLaTeX installed on your system? Open a terminal and type xelatex --version
to see if it's installed. Also, are you running on Mac, Linux or Windows?

I'm having the same issue, with pdflatex
pdfTeX 3.14159265-2.6-1.40.19 (TeX Live 2018)
on Mac OSX 10.14.
If I fully fill and restart my Lab, and close the previous Latex Preview tab, and right-click+"Show Latex Preview" once more, then the preview appears correctly, with no error, and saving+compiling will work for a while. I don't know what triggers it, but after a while I start getting this error again, and am not be able to compile my pdf file.
