Hi Erik,
It should be contour, not countour, and contour requires Gadfly. If you are also using PyPlot, you may need to use ApproxFun.contour. The README has been updated to make this clear. Also, I have only tested on Julia 0.3.
I changed from PyPlot to Gadfly in the latest version as PyPlot was slow, though I may revert the change: Gadfly’s contour will mysteriously fail. Though it may be possible to make the particular plotting interface user specifiable, which would give best of both worlds.
Cheers,
Sheehan

I am following the README. The command countour(u) doesn't work, as countour is undefined.
I assume I have to load a graphics package? Which one? I tried PyPlot, but this outputs an error starting with
ERROR: PyError (PyObject_Call) <type 'exceptions.TypeError'>
TypeError('float() argument must be a string or a number',)
I am using Julia 0.4-dev.—
