I coded lockgit for personal reasons to encrypt / decrypt small config files. I know it's not well tested if you provide it the wrong key, or try and use it on large files - just off the top of my head. This tool should normally be very lightweight and execute almost instantly.

If you want to debug it, search for a .lockgit directory. The directory directly above that you can cd into, and run lockgit commands like lockgit status. If there is no .lockgit directory anywhere on the computer, maybe someone else is using the same name.

The most likely command someone would automate is lockgit open. not sure what would cause 100% cpu and so much ram other than a large file or a massive number of them, but the source code is in this repo.

The key for the vault might not be obvious to find. but the default location is in a file called .lockgit.yml

Also, to be clear I have no affiliation with whatever product you are using, and I'm unlikely to be able to solve your particular problem. But I would look to prevent this behavior in the software if there is a bug we can identify.

from lockgit.
