The Windows Phone 8.1 App version of MimeKit targets PCL Profile111 - is that not compatible with your project?
It's a PCL profile based on .NET 4.5.

Just confirmed that I can reproduce this issue. I'll look into it some more and try to figure out the problem.

Ok, I think I figured it out. The problem is that I was adding the WPA81 assemblies to the NuGet as a PCL instead of as a WPA81.
I'll try to make a new release soon (I've got some other changes I want to make first).
