Yes, it would be a reasonable thing for normal-axis plots to have titles, but I
didn't have time to implement it. The reason Frame has it is because Frame is
the
sort of structure that physicists use for displaying data, and Plot is the sort
of
structure that mathematicians use to present theoretical curves. While
mathematicians need to explain what they're plotting, too, data especially
needs to
be labeled. (More than half of the plots I make look just like bell curves.)
The SVGFig infrastructure allows you to put a text label anywhere and line it up
nicely with the top of the axis, by means of a script. I tried to provide some
"applications" of SVGFig in the form of Plot and Frame for your convenience, but
really all of that can be done at a lower level, and that's where most of the
development effort has been. (There are a zillion plotting applications out
there
that will give you a lot of features; the niche I was trying to fill was the
Lego-brick style of interaction.)
I hope you don't mind the "you do it" sort of response, but unfortunately,
that's all
I can provide for this one.
Good luck,
-- Jim
