Hi!

We currently use a variant of the SRTM dataset that only has values above the sea. If you run your own instance and provide it data for sea coordinates, it will be emitted.

This issue with the public version (at https://open-elevation.com) stems from the fact that I am currently funding and hosting the machine myself, and it would be too costly for me to support a larger dataset (such as the best one out there: 30m NASA dataset).

Do say if you have any more questions!

Adding this as an option for some devs would be nice.

(sorry for my third reply ;)
Rats, this is what I am looking for! (elevation data below zero)

Is there a way I (and maybe others?) can help in completing (see-level data) and improving (30m data) your data?

Questions, questions:

  • Do you have the data? (1)
  • Can you tell me how to obtain the data ?
  • Can you tell how to convert the data for usage in your developed software?
  1. If you do: awesome! Would it be possible to slice the dataset into smaller pieces and make it available in portions on your server? Then after X time someone with their own server could obtain the data (with your limited space). (Won't start about crowd sourcing again :P )

Found the answer to point two ;)

(create an account and you can download)

do you have a conversion tool?

PS: still willing to share and help you to share the data by the way :)

Does anyone here know of an active API providing water depth below 0?
