Closing this now as found out I was not using the plugin properly.
From the Slack support channel:
The first screen you see when you get to an image most of the time isn't where you can edit it. To get to the part where you can edit you gotta click into the Details (button top right I think?) Then you can move it and save it. Even on 4.x though I think there's sometimes a bug where the new position doesn't show up in the CMS until you refresh the page
