These are valid and great suggestions. I think a 'stark contrast UI' should be added as a theme not as a replacement because people tend to have different taste. And it should be consistent throughout the whole app to give a nice experience to the user so I basically need to implement this for every screen in the app.

+1 Having the timer to be darker would be a great help. The contrast ratio is a bit too low to see unless you are holding the phone in your hand.
