I totally missed out that the cache path was hadrcoded in prepare.sh. Thanks for pointing me out and the explanations.

Hi, thanks for the report. The cache will work if the executor is setup as in the README.

The cache dir currently must be /home/user/cache. It is hardcoded here:

--volume "$CACHE_DIR:/home/user/cache":Z \

The problem is that the custom executor has no information what the cache_dir value is. There is no CI_CACHE_DIR env variable. I only found one result about it, so it seems nobody cares and there won't be a quick fix for it.

Currently, your options are using /home/user/cache or patching prepare.sh.

A more flexible solution might be something more like this. Do not put any configuration in config.toml. Instead, a config stage can be used to configure cache_dir and builds_dir. The configuration can be stored in base.sh, such that the config and prepare stage both have access to the values. The hardcoded line above can then be changed to use the new environment variable.
