Oh sweet jesus you're using bootstrap with roots? Although I wish I could say "I built a kill switch if you try to install bootstrap", I didn't actually think anyone that knew how to write jade, stylus, and coffee would go there, so I didn't. Maybe it will be there in the next release.
Either way, it looks like this is an error with bower, and it looks like you're not the only one that's run into it. Perhaps checking out some of the answers on the bower repo would help?
I'd say it's likely due to some sort of weird setup with git - are you sure your git is the latest version and everything is set up right?

Did you manage to resolve this? Since this is not an issue with roots and rather with bower, I'm going to close this issue.
