Hi @mathianasj! It definitely is possible, but I'm not sure if it is desired for this repository. This particular repository/image represents a minimal viable image that is deployable on OpenShift. It was created for users which may want to give Backstage a try before they invest any effort into customizing and extending it. It requires zero configuration and works out of the box. Backstage is very flexible when it comes to plugins so the possibilities are really endless.
If you want to try out a more complete, complex Backstage experience we also have a https://github.com/janus-idp/backstage-showcase (also hosted and available to the general public at https://showcase.janus-idp.io/ ). This Backstage instance is much more opinionated and full of extensions (and the list is growing). It requires some configuration before you can start using it. Images for that instance are located here: https://quay.io/repository/janus-idp/backstage-showcase?tab=tags

this makes sense and I realized that there would be code change requirements not just the addition of the npm package.
