Wireshark tests show that the client does send the commands; this means the issue is most likely to do with the server reading the client input.

JamoBox/JamChat_Core@67d66f4 seemed to fix the actual problem of input not being interpreted, however the server still has some issues in handling those interpreted commands with the exception of setting usernames. As this was a similar issue, development on this bug will be posted on this issue.
