Could you specify at least the version that you are using? If is 0.1.11 it might be pretty difficult to implement, if it's not already working.
0.1.9, or prior, should open the app, even if it is hidden, but we can't focus on the message as we don't really know much about the message, only that there are notifications.

are you using a packaged version. I have seen reporting the electron version instead of the teams one when running it from source.

Using a packaged version should integrate better with the os lib for notifications.
I will close this issue as implementing it will require changes in electron.
Another option, is to try the notifications hack that was needed for prior versions of teams.
