Hi there! 👋

I'm Islam, a passionate space engineer and researcher with a keen interest in integrating machine learning and physical models for the retrieval of geophysical parameters from interferometric SAR data. I'm particularly interested in earth observation and remote sensing applications.

About Me

I completed my Bachelor's degree in Space Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 2017, where I developed a strong foundation in space technology and engineering. After that, I worked as a system and software engineer at Bosch, where I was involved in developing automation parking algorithms for advanced driver assistance systems for OEMs.

In 2019, I moved to Munich to pursue my Master's degree in Earth Oriented Space and Science Technology (ESPACE) at Technische Universität München. During my Master's, I worked on DLR's Permafrost Airborne SAR Experiment (PermASAR) and focused on understanding the properties of permafrost for the PermASAR measuring campaign at the Microwaves and Radar Institute, German Aerospace Center.

Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. at Microwaves and Radar Institute, German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Chair of Earth Observation and Remote Sensing, ETH Zurich. My Ph.D. research is focused on integrating machine learning and physical models for the retrieval of geophysical parameters from interferometric SAR data. Through my research, I hope to contribute to advancing our understanding of SAR data and its applications in remote sensing and earth observation.

My Interests

My passion lies in space technology and engineering, and I have a keen interest in developing innovative solutions that can help us explore and understand the universe better. I am particularly interested in the integration of machine learning and physical models for remote sensing applications, especially in SAR data analysis.
