Just for reference, currently it's:

py_modules=[splitext(basename(i))[0] for i in glob.glob("src/*.py")],

Distutils and Setuptools treat packages (the dirs with __init__.py) and modules (.py files that aren't part of a package) differently. Packages are listed using packages and modules are listed using py_modules.

It's an unfortunate choice made by distutils - that's why I have them both.

In some situations I just want to distribute a single module (example: https://github.com/ionelmc/python-fields/tree/master/src), that's why I have that py_modules line.

Close this if you don't have more questions.

Okay, thanks, I didn't realize that py_modules only refers to modules that aren't part of a package. That makes sense.
