Would setting trial_from_plan:false work for you:

    trial_from_plan: false,

This way you can check if they have a previous subscription, and if so you set trial_from_plan:false. Would that dynamic work for you?

Note: this doesn't work today, but I'd be happy to make it possible if that's a suitable solution for you.
