See commit [8860] for the "bugfix to control-only feeds". It also fixes another issue: poisoned control groups were not properly handled.

Just checked the contents of the patch.
Besides the implementation of path diagnostics, only 1 feature has not already been integrated in INN:
- merged version of
NNTPconnect/NNTPlocalopen/NNTPremoteopen; this allows the use of Unix-domain sockets for parameters like nnrpdposthost (I use this to put a filter process between nnrpd and innd)
As the patch for this feature is against a fairly old version of INN (2.2) whose network handling has been rewritten since then, it cannot be merged without a total rewrite. I'm not aware of any other use who has asked for that feature, so I would suggest not to take it into account. We'll see in the future if the need arises again.
Let's just consider that the remaining point in this ticket is to add path diagnostics support to innd.
