I'm pretty certain the certificate is not the issue here. I'm running my own prosody server with self generated certificates as well. In that case, Conversations will only alert the user that the Certificate is not signed by any known CA and then give them the option so trust this certificate anyway. Can you connect adb and check if there are any debug messages?

This might be related to a broken SRV lookup. Unfortunately I'm missing information to properly reproduce this. Are you willing to provide me with the server name so I can test this myself?

should be fixed with the latest commit in the development branch. I've just registered an account on your server. can you confirm this?
