Probably do this only for those plugins maintained by InfluxData.

Proposed plan:

  1. review the current most frequently used plugins -- system, docker, InfluxDB, Kapacitor, statsD, MySQL, Prometheus, Redis, Exec, HTTP Listener, Socket Listener....
  2. review common sections, content, and develop a template for plug-ins to follow
  3. create variants for input, output, processors, aggregators

Publish new template to Telegraf repo... and advertise the update.

Goal: Turn some GitHub readmes into full pages on pages in docs.influxdata.com. Pull directly from GitHub readme so when readme is updated so does the docs page.

GitHub pages to include:

Use case:

  • Better experience for users
    • some may get distracted when they go from docs to GitHub, end up giving up
    • create a cohesive influxdata experience
  • Analytics: who's viewing the plugin readmes, which ones are giving users more trouble
