Android device setting taxon.species_guess with redundant scientific name about inaturalistandroid HOT 6 CLOSED

So it's an existing observation with a taxon, you download it to the Android app, open the taxon chooser, choose the same taxon, species_guess gets changed to "[common name] ([scientific name])" in the app, you sync, and and the species guess on the website is now "[common name] ([scientific name])"? That sounds like a bug in Android incorrectly setting the species guess to "[common name] ([scientific name])". In theory when you choose a taxon it should update the species guess with the common name.

to clarify my steps reproduce:

1. Click 'add' on Observations tab
2. in 'Species name...' type 'western hearts ease' and click search
3. select taxon 'Western heart's ease Viola ocellata'
4. Note 'Species name...' field now contains 'Western heart's ease (Viola ocellata)'
5. save and sync
6. check db/website and note species_guess set to 'Western heart's ease (Viola ocellata)'

@kueda - would like to get this bug fix in to the build Yaron's working on - can I say that the fixed behavior is that species_guess should be set to the default taxon_name with lexicon set to the user's account preference language? If not, what is the proper behavior for this?

Yes, I think that's fine. The important thing is that the app shows what the user chose. In this case they chose the taxon name that was displayed in the taxon chooser, so that makes sense.
