Mike, problem is, we're effectively working at TCP layer here, so "error" is a hard thing to define. At the moment, the backend is completely protocol agnostic: if the downstream closes a connection for whatever reason, we mirror the behavior. In theory, if you have a protocol error that caused the reset, then you also have all that data within the proxy... But to detect that, you would have to write additional code on top of em-proxy to make it protocol aware.
