Followup: yes, this isn't a killer bug, as the judges can switch to light mode and back and will probably figure it out. But if there is a fix with a low risk of regression, can we put it in at such a late stage?
Is it worth extending voting by 24 hours, even? (Note: I realize this would compress the schedule for admins to verify votes before November 20, but I'm envisioning where someone procrastinates and then tries to vote in dark mode and it doesn't work. Even a temporary fix such as "You may wish to switch to light mode to be able to see the votes you cast. We plan to fix this for the next IFComp" might help get a few more votes in.)

Apologies for not addressing this sooner - I've hacked up the css on site to add a dark mode setting for the select box so it should be more visible now

Awesoeme, no problem! It's something I wished I'd checked much earlier.
Also I forgot to mention my browser, Firefox--apparently this doesn't happen on opthers. So sorry for the lack of specificity/trying other stuff there.
