We’ve done this since commit 71f7166 (June 2010) to avoid the text jumping around when your wireless quality oscillates between 100% and <100%.
You could send a pull request to introduce a new format string (format_quality) which makes this configurable.

Ah, that makes sense. I'll try to to make this a configurable setting once this semester is finished.

I found this problem myself, so had a play with fixing it myself.
Would you consider #115 as a fix for this?
