Thank you! In the meantime, I also noticed that usbserial is not enough: to have a funcional usb dongle, you also need the specific driver (obviously, I'd say now 😅). In my case it was the cp210x.

I'm not sure you are willing to add all drivers, or maybe a selection of most common ones. Here you can find some more information about these devices, and also a list of more common models (I knew CP210x, CH30x, and the PL2303).
