Just do it in the File Explorer. Press the directrory toolbar button, select
Browse
Path, Active Script. Then double click the file you want to open. I think
this is
faster than what you described.

Not as fast because just pressing CTRL+O is quite faster than what you
describe, plus
you can use filename completion in the default open file dialog. All without
touching
the mouse while coding.
Please rethink of this issue. It's really easy to code, can't really be
harmful, and
is surely useful in some circumstances.

I'd love this too. It's a big time saver for those of used to the keyboard --
i.e.
the context switch of switching to the mouse, pressing the button, browse path,
etc
is a little disruptive when you just want to quickly open a file in the same
directory (which is the most common scenario -- in my case :)).
