Same error for yarn dev-playground
which is quite interesting because you do specify a port with that one: webpack-dev-server --hot --port 8090 --playground
from vscode-debug-visualizer.
OS: Windows 10
C:\dev\vscode-debug-visualizer\webview>node -v

Hey, cool to see that you're still interested in this project! Sorry, in the last days, I changed a lot of stuff and the docs lack behind.
I know thats not very professional, but given the low interest of people to contribute to this project I rather move quickly forward than have always up-to-date docs.
The webview connects to the websocket server started by the VS Code extension. The port query parameter is used to communicate that port from the extension to the webview.
There is also a random token involved for authentication so that attackers cannot just connect to that port, as authenticated clients can evaluate arbitrary js code inside the debuggee.
You can launch the extension using one of the Dev UI
launch configs - this instructs the extension to use the UI served by the webpack server rather than the bundled output of the dist folder.
yarn dev-playground
is outdated. I moved the playground to visualization-playground
(you can find the hosted version here). Also, the visualizations now live in their own package. I plan to publish this package on npm so that you can easily visualize (appropriate) JSON.

Okay, thanks.
