Before we close this ticket, I was wondering to ask the reason for having the
extensionMetadatabe delivered through theconnectToLocalWalletmethod? Is it to support multiple dApps from the same page?
The reason for this is eventually we plan to allow other wallets to implement hashconnect, and this metadata will allow the dapp to display different options for the user to select if they have more than one compatible extension installed

For anyone coming to the same issue, in order to trigger the local-wallet modal, make sure you're serving your page through a https connection (thank you, @teacoat for pointing this out) otherwise the communication between the page and the extension will not work.
