I think you have to setup the hedera network in the hedera network config
const config: HardhatUserConfig = {
...,
defaultNetwork: "hedera",
hedera: {
networks: {
customNetwork: { ... }
}
}
and not in the hardhat network config as stated in the readme https://github.com/hashgraph/hedera-hardhat-hethers#configuration
from hedera-hardhat-hethers.
I'm aware of that, however that requires using the @hashgraph/hardhat-hethers
plugin. However, I would like to connect to the local hedera json rpc configured directly in HardhatUserConfig.networks
as one would for any other local ethereum node e.g. ganache
, etc.
const config: HardhatUserConfig = {
defaultNetwork: "ganache",
networks: {
ganache: { // configure hardhat to use local ganache blockchain
url: "http://127.0.0.1:8545",
chainId: 1337,
accounts: [
...
],
},
},
...
};
The reason is that using the @hashgraph/hardhat-hethers
plugin seems to break other hardhat plugins as I've pointed out in some of the other issues I created: #28 #25
In addition hethers
doesn't have all the functionality that hardhat.ethers
has, as pointed out in these issues: #30 #29 #27
from hedera-hardhat-hethers.
@dimitrovmaksim is there a reason y'all went this route over enabling standard network configuration within Hardhat? It makes for a terrible dev experience given that an entire ecosystem of hardhat plugins is inaccessible to Hedera devs.
It would be great if we could simply configure a local hedera network like @nomiclabs/hardhat-ganache and have hardhat work like it would using it's own local node or ganache
from hedera-hardhat-hethers.
As shown in the example projects the hedera relay can be configured normally in hardhat networks
from hedera-hardhat-hethers.
