Which Wubiuefi version did you use? The error message refers to standard installation method if you try to install directly on an NTFS file system (Windows file system). Wubiuefi uses a special configuration which creates an ext4 file system (Linux file system) within a file (/ubuntu/disks/root.disk) on an NTFS file system.

I used Wubiuefi 14.04.5 r310. I also had to use the MOK Manager to get the key imported.

In general, 14.04 uses an older version of parted than e.g. 16.04. So maybe, some needed features to detect your drives/partitions correctly are not available.

The Wubi log file contains further information about the Windows view of your system.

You find the log file in the Windows temp folder. A shortcut for the Windows temp folder is %temp% . The path name for the log file is %temp%\wubi-14-04.5-rev310.log if you use wubi14045r310.exe. The full path name is something like C:\Users\YourWindowsName\AppData\Local\Temp\wubi-14-04.5-rev310.log.

The second useful information is the Ubuntu view of your system.

To do so, press "ESC" if the following message appears:

Completing the Ubuntu installation."
For more installation boot options, press `ESC' now...

After that an option menu appears. Select "Demo mode".

In Demo mode, open a terminal and type
sudo parted --list

Note: the "Demo mode" also provides an installer. But the installer of the Demo mode is the installer for a standard installation which doesn't install with the special Wubi configuration.

Thanks! I got Ubuntu 14.04 through default install using the ISO, but I will try this later.

No problem. Wubiuefi should only an alternate. If a standard install meets your requirements, it is a good solution.

If you still want to help the project without installing with Wubiuefi, you can also type
sudo parted --list
in the installed Ubuntu 14.04.

If your device/partitions have a new unsupported device name, I will add it in future releases.

If it is already supported in the latest release, there is nothing to do for us. It is possible to use the ISO of 14.04.5 with the latest release by selecting the desktop environment "Wubi EFI".
