Meanwhile how hard would be for h2o to have a spdy3 compatibility mode to benefit from it right now ?
I have never read the specification and have no concrete idea, but IMHO it should not be that hard (the http2 protocol implementation of H2O is around 3,000 LOC, spdy3 impl. would not differ much).
OTOH I am not sure if it is worth working on considering the fact that the web browsers that support SPDY3 is sooner or later going to switch to HTTP/2 (within months maybe).
I did some tests on a machine with 8 cores and it seems that it doesn't scale beyound 2 threads.
It is apparently due to the limitations of Apache Bench. Apache Bench is a single-threaded benchmark program, it is simply incapable of benchmarking a multi-threaded (or multi-process) server. I would sugesst using other tools (e.g. wrk) for taking benchmarks of H2O running multiple threads.
