It looks like you're on a Mac - Thus you'll want the Mac version of Pinfinder, not the Linux one:

Hello,
I am receiving the following notification: “pinfinder 5” can’t be opened
because it is from an unidentified developer.
Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App
Store and identified developers"
Is there a way to change the security settings?

Not sure what I'm either doing wrong or not doing but I can't seem to retrieve my restrictions code

realizing this ticket is old and now has 3 different issues in it, but @mdmontes you need to right-click on pinfinder and select "open"; you'll still get a warning, but it should work (see https://pinfinder.net/mac.html)
@si201024 That one seems odd; can you retry with the 1.7.0 release please? also make sure you're using the "backup" button with iTunes, rather than just "sync"
