Well, it seems like a misunderstanding on my part. If I create a file with this code:
use GuzzleHttp\Promise\FulfilledPromise;
$promise = new FulfilledPromise('value');
$promise->then(function ($value) {
echo $value;
});
sleep(5);
The output is writing only after 5 seconds, when the script ends. If I use wait()
, I immediately get the value.
Can someone explain me how does it work? The readme indicates Fulfilled callbacks are immediately invoked, but they're not, unless I use the wait()
method.

I think the documentation could be made more clear on this.
They are immediately invoked on the next tick of the promise task queue. This is to ensure that we don't recurse and create a stack overflow.
The task queue is ticked automatically when it is destructed to ensure that any pending onComplete and onFulfilled callbacks are invoked.

Ok, I understand what happens now, thank you for your help!
About the documentation, maybe you could add something about the task queue being automatically ticked on destruction. I think that would help to understand how promises work. 🙂
