@saizai - finally getting 'round to trying to reproduce this today. I'm on an htc wildfire running CM 6.1.0 and GB seems to be behaving normally. can sign in successfully (w/ gmail acct), load contacts and conduct e2e chat.

we have a vanilla g1 that I could try to reproduce on, but it's running stock 1.6 and not CM.

which specific build did you encounter this issue on? I am testing on the following: https://github.com/downloads/guardianproject/Gibberbot/Gibberbot-0.0.4-20110419.apk

Wiped previous gibberbot & orbot installs
Installed & ran your linked apk
Input auth details for [email protected]. Orbot is unchecked.
"Signing in…"
"Attention:" … "Cannot connect to server." (Status bar indicates full bars, H/3G-rate data)
Log in to wifi
same issue
Installed orbot from market
Started orbot w/ root
Connected to Tor successfully per Orbot
Switched back to gibberbot, got alpha popup warning for 1st time
Ticked 'connect via tor'
"Signing in…"
"Attention:" … "Cannot connect to server." (Status bar indicates full wifi connectivity)

Just tried again from home, same error. Connectivity is fine, Tor is running fine.

Went into menu. Changed settings to add mandatory SSL, Tor transport, TLS verification, etc.

Connected successfully.

Unable to reproduce my FC, but 'cannot connect to server' could probably use tweaking - at least autotest various (at-least-as-paranoid-as-current) configs?

PS "starting encrypted chat session" should not be modal, it should change the red status bar so that you can do other stuff in the meantime. :P
