package.json possibly missing "main" about grunt-cli HOT 2 CLOSED

grunt-cli is a binary and doesn't need a main field as it's not supposed to be required. The bin field makes sure it becomes a command in your terminal.

Your issues are something else. Make sure you're on latest node and npm. StackOverflow is good for support.

For the benefit of anyone who stumble upon this issue:
This happens when your have node.js prefix on shared drive, e.g. your 'My Documents' folder on shared drive. This is due to bug in path module as noted here.

This issue is patched in v0.11.14 of node.js.

To make it work with existing release, edit .cmd wrapper ( %APPDATA%\npm\grunt.cmd file) :
Replace line node "%~dp0\Roaming\npm\node_modules\grunt-cli" %* with path to where bin\grunt is. For me, it was node "%~dp0\node_modules\grunt-cli\bin\grunt" %*.

Be aware that it might get overwritten when grunt-cli get updated/removed & reinstalled.
