Here is another workaround we managed to write that doesn't have lags in IE10/11:

We are using TweenMax.ticker to create each letter animation in an async way.
It takes IE about 2 ticks to create a TweenMax object for each letter, so we had to tweak that too but the end result has no performance issues (other than the lousy refresh rate IE has comparing to the rest :) )

We of course don't really want to use this, so, waiting for your update :)
