Hi @gbhojak,

We are currently supporting both tools, but this repo (https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/healthcare/tree/master/deploy) is in maintenance mode. We have moved active development to https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/healthcare-data-protection-suite.

We worked with several customers directly and got their feedback on the type of tooling they need and have designed the new version with that in mind. You will see it takes a slightly different approach (generating Terraform configs and letting users work directly with them).

https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/healthcare-data-protection-suite/tree/master/cmd are indeed the instructions! Let us know in the new repo if you have any questions. It is going through a lot of iterations still, so be wary of that!

Hi Giriraj,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Can you let me know what operating system you're using?

Hi Umair,

No worries at all. Thank you for responding!
I am doing this on macOS Catalina -- 10.15.2 (19C57)

We are able to reproduce this error on a macbook. Sorry, we should be clearer but all our testing environments are linux based and that should be the only officially supported version. I'll clarify that in the docs, but let me see if we can get this working for you on a macbook as well. If not, would you be able to run this in a linux environment? The docs do mention using GCP cloud shell as the recommended way of running the toolkit.

That was going to be my fallback -- executing it on GCP cloud shell. I will do that and let you know how it goes. Thank you very much.

BTW, is there a roadmap for the new features? Like support for Shared VPC/Cloud Run/GKE?
I couldn't create a GKE cluster thru DPT, so I added a separate step to execute a set of custom cloud foundation toolkit templates to automate the environments as much as possible.
I did see that Deployment Manager support would be deprecated. Hence I have started building a custom yaml file from the samples/environments/full.

Thanks,
Giriraj

Thanks Giriraj, please keep us posted. Definitely move off of deployment manager when you can as it will be shut down in the future. We now solely rely on Terraform + gcloud for most of our work in the script.

Regarding roadmap, we are discussing ways to evolve the toolkit to better support a large number of resources, but nothing concrete to share yet. In the meantime, you can use DPT to setup your foundational pieces and then use something like https://cloud.google.com/foundation-toolkit/ to deploy resources not supported by DPT. For example, here is their GKE module: https://github.com/terraform-google-modules/terraform-google-kubernetes-engine

Closing this due to inactivity. I would encourage you to also check the new version of the toolkit available at https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/healthcare-data-protection-suite if you are interested!

Hi @umairidris ,

Does this mean the repository at https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/healthcare is deprecated in favor of the https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/healthcare-data-protection-suite?
Also, is there a getting started guide for the healthcare-data-protection-suite?

Thanks,
Giriraj

I think I found the instructions in https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/healthcare-data-protection-suite/tree/master/cmd.

Hi @umairidris ,

Thank you for your prompt response, I will start using the new protection suite for our healthcare infrastructure needs right away and ask any questions in the new repo.
Since it's a new project, I will just open issues in GitHub, hope that's alright.

Regards,
Giriraj
