Thanks, Rob! @philipwalton any preferences you have here? Few options...

  1. Link the (final) / not final text to the web.dev article for each metric
  2. Link the (final) / not final text to the web-vitals.js repository README
  3. Add a link at the bottom of the pop-up ~ "Read more about how we measure on web.dev" and link to web.dev/metrics.

Alternatives also welcome.

I'd go with option 3. Something like, "Learn more about when these values are final..."

That being said, I don't think we have a good, single resource for that. Maybe it could link to either the web-vitals.js docs or the extension docs to just outline the problem, and then those docs could link to the metrics docs to learn more. WDYT?

I'd add that for FID specifically, its indeterminate state should clearly indicate that there have been no inputs. For example, "Waiting for input" or something. Maybe other metrics could borrow this language to clarify what they're waiting for.
