This would apply only to sync/html fs, and not for local file systems.

The situation is worsened by another deficiency: we handle external renaming of a project directory pretty badly. CDE doesn't notice it, and keeps trying to open files as if they still existed in the old place (so ones that have tabs open, open those tabs and show the preserved contents, and the rest open empty tabs).
