create temp function not supported about zetasql HOT 3 OPEN

I might be wrong here, but in your SQL script there are two statements, one for creating the function and one select statement after. Hence, the error message is correct - the statement is terminated with ;and anything after that is an error.

I guess also trying to extract table names from your statement is an excercise in futility too, but it shoudlnt crash the parser. what causes the crash is likely what I said above.

Hm. I thought zetasql was standardized with BigQuery and when I use the query above in BigQuery it runs fine.

zetasql shares the same parser and underlying language as BigQuery, but BigQuery has many extensions, and the zetasql reference implementation is incomplete. JS scripting is not support in zetasql (and likely will not be). Can you describe your use case?
