not sure if this will work for you, but we use this pip command to get pytype in the typeshed travis setup
pip install -U git+git://github.com/google/pytype
from pytype.
This has mostly been because it is under active development and not deemed particularly stable yet, but trove classifiers could communicate this. We should do it.

If nothing else, it lets you reserve the name in the PyPI namespace.
from pytype.
I've at least reserved the name until we do an upload: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/pytype
from pytype.
Thanks for reserving the name, Greg! I was a bit worried that it would get stolen away by some Python keyboard library. :)

I would love to see pytype on PyPI!
I want to use it as a type checker in graphene and the installation would be much simpler if put as pip requirement :)

Per above, a working pytype
entry for requirements.txt
for pip
is:
git+git://github.com/google/pytype.git
For editable mode, it is:
-e git://github.com/google/pytype.git#egg=pytype
from pytype.
