Google Play Services doesn't run on emulators. So I think it has to be ran on an L system device once they become available.

Might want to update your README then

It's definitely a Play Services issue, as it doesn't support the emulator.

I tried to compile the code and run it on my Nexus 5 with Android-L system image. Unfortunately I am getting the same error. I included the developer preview play services v5 while comiling from https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/addon-play-services-5.xml

There's still this line in BUILDING.md:

"You will need a device flashed with the Android L preview system image, or you can use the emulator."

I guess it needs to be removed too.
