Fixed via 0af59d5.
I added a bin/grind.dart and a bin/grinder.dart script. These look for tool/grind.dart and tool/grinder.dart respectively. If they find the script they execute it in the dart VM. Otherwise they complain.
So, once we can run dart applications bare, we should be able to get grind test working, without having to have a grind.sh script ineach project.

And pub announced its support to bin "exes" (aka dart scripts from bin) into the PATH. So we can assume that we could get grind test without having a grind.sh. Cool!
