I dug into this and determined two issues:

The symlink itself needs to be named
.bator Windows won't know it's an executable. This is easy enough to solve. -
When a script is invoked through a symlink on Windows, its understanding of "the script's location"—which we access through the metavariable
%~dp0—points to the symlink rather than the original.batfile. We could work around this by repeatedly parsing the output ofdir /a %0to follow symlinks and eventually get to the concrete file, but that would require a lot of fairly complex batch scripting. I don't have the expertise or desire to do that and there's not a strong expectation that executables work through symlinks on Windows anyway, so I'm going to mark this as "wontfix" for now. If someone else comes along and wants to fix this in the future, I'd be more than happy to accept a patch.
