it's an interesting idea in case we know some particular version(s) give bad
results.
personally, i'd be more interested in it automatically recognizing i was out of
date and suggesting i upgrade. but i'm probably thinking about it wrong; a real
user should be using your .deb package repository and not have to think about
such things. i get what i deserve for building from source.

That's a little less trivial and foolproof than it sounds (plus there's the
fact we use perforce, not subversion, for the internal mirror of caliper). I'm
sure it can be hacked together but another alternative is to just use whatever
is supplied to ant -Dversion=xxx.

I don't care if we even just hardcode the version as a constant and update it
by hand for each release branch or tag... just have to do _something_.
It would presumably become an attribute of the "Environment."
