Thanks for reporting. This could be something happening only in VMware Pro 17 since this version has recently been released.

Update
I have created a new vm trough File>New Virtual Machine in vmware and copied the two vmdk files of gns3 vm downloaded, it try to boot and a first message appear saying that there are not the write priviledges, clicking on "allow all" button boot process continue but stop again as in the screenshot
I can't tell if it's an internal vmware error or the vm
from gns3-vm.

I have installed VMware Workstation 17 Pro on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and got no issues importing the GNS3 VM ova v2.2.37
from gns3-vm.
