How about using Consul's event mechanism for this? Registrator could fire a user event to Consul, at every Docker event. On the other side, arbitrary consul event-handlers can listen. That way its nicely decouples Registrator from various notification plugins.

But maybe that could be the scope of a completely different app: docker-watch or whatever name it fits.

I think there is something here that is more general than registrator, more useful than raw Docker event stream, and not specific to consul...
