Good idea to check with the NASA Alaska Satellite Facility. There is also a binderhub at UGA that we could potentially use. How does it work exactly, where do we specify the link to the server that is used for binder?

For how it works: In MyBinder you just had to add the package branch you want to be active on their website for it to be known, and then put the link in your documentation config (here with sphinx-book-theme): https://github.com/GlacioHack/xdem/blob/main/doc/source/conf.py#L164.
For others BinderHubs there might be extra steps.

From my experience, the UGA binder has a very similar interface to MyBinder, so maybe it would simply work by changing the URL where you indicate it (although there might be issues with authentification...). But we would need to test first to see if the binders are quick to launch and if they work well. The UGA binderhub probably does not have the same capacity than what MyBinder used to have.
