Packaging for NPM/Common.js about protobuf-for-node HOT 6 OPEN

Would be nice to streamline the install process with this. If I try npm link . 
in the directory with the package.json everything works but if I try to 
require() the node lib it complains:

Cannot find module 'protobuf_for_node'

Even the newest Ubuntu at time of writing (11.04) can compile 
protobuf-for-node, and I don't really have the time to compile & set up 
protobuf from HG.

Ah. The previous comment should have said "...canNOT compile 
protobuf-for-node..."

Hm, doesn't seem to work on os x. ldconfig doesn't exist and it doesn't seem to 
compile correctly.
