When I ran the 'game' it asked me to set a git username. I already have a git username set on my laptop, and it wasn't clear what the scope of the 'game' username would be. I didn't want to change it for the game, only to find I'd have to fix it on my laptop again.

When githug prompts you for your name and email address, it uses those values and compares them to the values in your git config.
At no point will githug make any permanent changes to your global git config.
