An example showing behaviour (issue):
df <- data_sim("eg4")
m <- gam(y ~ s(x2, fac, bs = "re"), data = df, method = "REML")
draw(m)
That fails with an error originating from evaluate_smooth()
:
> evaluate_smooth(m, "s(x2,fac)")
Error: Tibble columns must have compatible sizes.
* Size 3: Existing data.
* Size 1200: Column `..var`.
ℹ Only values of size one are recycled.
Run `rlang::last_error()` to see where the error occurred.
So clearly need to handle this use case in evaluate_re_smooth()
.
